Reports suggest that Newcastle have struck a deal to sign Lloyd Kelly on a free transfer.

Newcastle are looking to revamp their squad this summer with an aim to climb back into the top four next season, as Eddie Howe takes over the managerial reins.

The Toon are set to start their transfer business early with the signing of Bournemouth's Kelly.

According to French publication Foot Mercato, Newcastle will sign the defender when his Cherries contract expires in June. Kelly, who joined Bournemouth from Bristol City in 2019, has played 139 times for the Cherries and has decided to part ways this summer.

Newcastle will be hoping that their new signing will bring versatility to the team, as he can play at centre-back or left-back.

This season, Kelly has been plagued by injuries, including calf, hamstring, and hip issues, which have limited him to 21 Premier League appearances. Despite facing stiff competition from Tottenham and AC Milan, Newcastle managed to secure Kelly's signature.

The Toon are also interested in signing Freiburg's Merlin Rohl, but recent reports suggest that Everton are leading the race for the 21-year-old midfielder.
